Flat roofs are designed with a slight fall so that water drains from the roof and into the gutter. Although they look flat in appearance they are constructed with timber to accommodate a small slope for correct water drainage.
It’s recommended to inspect your flat roof twice a year—once in March and once in November—especially after rain or snow, to ensure water is draining properly. before you inspect you roof ensure you have the correct access and it is safe. It is advisable to not walk on the roof, particular if it is very old as you could cause severe damage. If you cannot see all the roof without getting on top then call a professional roofer or use a ply board to distribute your weight.
It depends of the condition of the full roof and if the leak is in one area. If the roof appears in good condition then it is possible to do repair works on the problem area.
