We recently completed a dormer flat roof replacement on a property in Norwich. The existing roof was experiencing significant issues, including water pooling and persistent leaks, which necessitated prompt attention.
Assessment and Challenges
Upon inspection, we identified that the roof’s inadequate slope was causing water to accumulate, leading to damage over time. The materials had deteriorated, compromising the roof’s integrity and insulation.
Our Solution
To address these issues, we undertook the following steps:
Removal of Existing Materials: We carefully stripped back the old roofing materials to expose the underlying structure.
Improving Drainage: New firring strips were installed to create a better fall, ensuring effective water runoff and preventing future pooling.
Reboarding: We fitted new 18mm OSB (Oriented Strand Board) decking to provide a solid and durable base for the new roofing system.
Installing EPDM Membrane: A high-quality EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) membrane was applied, offering excellent waterproofing and longevity.
Finishing Touches: The project was completed with the installation of new trims and guttering, enhancing both functionality and appearance.
Outcome
The new dormer flat roof is now watertight, structurally sound, and aesthetically pleasing. The improved drainage system will protect the property from future water-related issues, providing peace of mind to the homeowner.
